In a remarkable show of support, the management of Komenda College of Education has donated various items to the traditional council of Komenda in aid of their ongoing Nyeyi Festival.

The festival, which started on 4th September 2023, is to bring together the people of the Komenda traditional area to foster unity and plan for development.

The presentation of the items was made on Tuesday, 5th September 2023, and was gladly received by Mr. E.B Rockson, the Finance Administrator of the festival planning committee, and Mrs. Georgina Efua Cudjoe, the Planning Committee Chairperson, on behalf of the Omanhene of Komenda Traditional Area, Nana Akatakyi VIII.

The items presented included crates of malts, Coca-Cola, Fanta, Club Beer, Guinness, Schnapp, Packs of Bottled Water, and an undisclosed amount of money to help the council with the success of the festival.

Expressing his profound gratitude to the college and its management for their kind gestures and willingness to support the event, Mr. E.B Rockson pleaded with the management of the college to continue with the strong bond they have built with the community and the council as they will always be available whenever they are also called upon.

Mrs. Georgina Efua Cudjoe, the chairperson of the festival planning committee, also took the opportunity to extend her gratitude to the college.

She urged the students present to take their studies seriously, emphasizing the importance of education in shaping their future and enabling them to become better individuals.

Speaking on behalf of the college and the management members present, Mr. Theophilus Kweku Bassaw, the Vice Principal, emphasized the unity between the college and the community.

He also assured everyone that the college will continue to strengthen the rapport built for the betterment of both the town and the college.

The Nyeyi festival is celebrated annually by the people of the Komenda traditional area to honour their departed heroes and heroines for their great contribution to the various traditional areas in the community.

This year’s celebration is on the theme: “The role of the youth in socio-economic development”, and the celebration spans from 4th to 12th September 2023.
