Professional Development is very important as it gives the individual professional opportunities to learn and apply new knowledge and skills that can help them in their job and further their career.

Professional development is all about building one’s skill set and knowledge base for one’s field.

The National Teaching Council(NTC) mandated by the Education Regulatory Bodies Act 2020( Act 1023,) to regulate the Teaching Profession in Ghana introduced a New Point-Based Assessment which is to help determine which license-holding staff of the Ghana Education Service qualifies to renew their License if it expires or becomes due to renewal.

On this note, it has become very expedient for every teacher to attend professional workshops to help in these point accumulations.

Komenda College of Education currently the only College of Education with The Teachers’ Continuous Professional Development Accreditation from NTC in collaboration with the KEEA Educational Directorate organized a resource packed three days sensitization workshop for the Basic and Secondary School Teachers in the Municipality from 24th to 26th November at Archbishop Porters Girls Polytechnic- Elmina.

The Acting Vice Principal-Mr. Theophlius Kweku Bassaw who stood in for Very. Rev Kwesi Nkum Wilson(PhD) during his opening remarks admonished the participants to update and upgrade themselves as investment in knowledge pays the best interest.

In attendance include Teachers from the Elmina circuit, Ntranoa, Essaman, Abirim Agona, Ayensudo, Kissi, Komenda and Dominase Circuits. Each participant paid Gh¢65.00 which covered their resource materials for the workshop, snack and lunch.

Close to 1100 Teachers were in Attendance as everybody was ready and eager to imbibe new knowledge and insight as to enhance their Teaching.

Participants were really glad and majority expressed their joy and excitement as how skillful the facilitators were in their delivery.

Some who spoke with Coleman Publications also confirmed their expectations were met and as such will never be available to attend any workshop the college will embark on.
