The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has decided to dismiss students who have failed two or more courses after supplementary exams.
This decision comes just days after the University of Ghana implemented a similar policy of dismissing level 200 and level 300 students with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) below 1.00.
The management of KNUST made it clear that any undergraduate student who fails to achieve the stipulated minimum CGPA for progression to the next level of study should be withdrawn from the university.

This decision aims to maintain and promote academic excellence within the institution.
In light of this new development, all KNUST students are urged to visit their students’ portal and check their CGPA.
If a student finds that their CGPA is less than 1.00, they should prepare themselves to receive a dismissal letter via email from the university.
This decision, as stated by the university, is in accordance with the University Regulations for Junior Members (2017) under section 9.26.

However, it is important to note that all students who are being dismissed due to poor academic performance will have the opportunity to reapply for admission as fresh candidates.
The university encourages these students to carefully consider their options and make necessary preparations for their reapplication.
