The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has emerged as the best university in the world for the provision of quality education (SDG 4), according to the 2023 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings published on Thursday, June 1st, 2023.
The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
With carefully calibrated indicators, the rankings provide a comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching. In its fifth edition, the 2023 Impact Rankings include 1,591 universities from 112 countries and regions.
KNUST has set the bar high for quality education globally by earning the top position on the table with a score of 93.1 for SDG 4. The university beat 1,303 out of the 1,304 universities worldwide that fell within this category.
It has become the No.1 destination for quality education globally, a feat many universities worldwide strive to attain.
The SDG 4-Quality Education category measures universities’ contribution to early years and lifelong learning, research, and their commitment to inclusive education.
This year, 1,304 universities from 109 countries/regions participated in the SDG 4 category, making KNUST’s recognition even more remarkable.
