In a move aimed at boosting teacher morale and recognizing excellence, the Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Eric Nkansah, has announced an “out-of-turn” promotion for all winners of the 2024 Ghana Teacher Prize.

This means that, in addition to the already impressive prize packages, the winning teachers will be automatically promoted to the next rank in the scheme of service, bypassing the usual waiting period.

This means that in addition to the existing prizes, the winners will be promoted to the next rank without having to wait for the usual number of years as outlined in the service scheme.

This new incentive is expected to generate greater enthusiasm and competition for the prestigious award, with the “out-of-turn” promotion serving as a powerful motivator for teachers to strive for excellence.

He made this announcement during the Ghana Teacher Prize ceremony, which took place in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, on October 5, 2024.

The ceremony, held under the theme “Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education,” was attended by prominent figures, including the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
