First-year students in the 46 public colleges of education in Ghana are seeking clarification on the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) disbursement made to trainees. There has been confusion among some students about whether they are part of the beneficiaries of the disbursement.
However, checks have revealed that the disbursement made by the SLTF was an arrear for the 2021/2022 academic year. Therefore, only students who were in their second, third and fourth year of study during the 2021/2022 academic year received the allowance. First-year students were not included in the disbursement.

However, they are assured of receiving their share of the allowance when the disbursement for the 2022/2023 academic year commences. This means that first-year students who have provided their details and it has met the requirements will receive their allowances in due time.
