The education sector in Ghana has been affected by numerous strikes in recent years, with the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) at the forefront of these industrial actions.

Unfortunately, the strike action by CETAG in the previous academic year led to the disruption of academic activities, and final-year students in colleges of education affiliated with the University of Cape Coast (UCC) were not able to write their level 300 second-semester mid-semester quizzes and end-of-term examinations.

However, after the suspension of the CETAG strike, the academic calendar for 2022/2023 has already commenced, and trainees have been asked to begin their Macro teaching.

According to the new release academic calendar by UCC, final-year students in affiliate colleges are required to prepare for their mid-semester and end-of-semester exams, which will take place in April. The period for the examination for the 2019 year group is from 23rd to 29th April 2023.

In light of this development, some schools have already issued a communique with their students, urging them to use their macro teaching break, which runs from March 24 to April 3rd, as a revision period for the examination. This is to give them ample time to prepare for the exams and ensure that they perform to the best of their abilities.

The delay in writing the exams has undoubtedly caused a lot of anxiety and uncertainty among the final year students, but they are determined to make up for lost time and make the most of this opportunity to complete their education.

It is hoped that the exams will go smoothly and that the students will have peace of mind to look forward to the next chapter of their lives.
