The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has indicated that they have complied with the directive given by the National Labour Commission (NLC) and have called off their strike.
However, they have warned that if the Employer(government) fails to comply with all outstanding Compulsory Arbitral Awards by 30th October 2023, they shall “advise themselves accordingly.”
In a letter written to the NLC on 5th September, 2023, CETAG officially indicated their compliance with the directive to call off their strike.

They also used the opportunity to draw the attention of the NLC to the fact that the employer has failed to give out the Staff Audit Report to the appropriate stakeholders as promised to be delivered by 1st September 2023.
Currently, teaching and learning has officially commenced in the 46 public colleges of education in the country.
However, from their letter to the NLC, they may be forced to resume their strike if the government fails to fulfil its part of the directive by 30th October 2023.

CETAG has been on strike since August 1, 2023, demanding better conditions of service and payment of outstanding arrears.
Their decision to call off the strike on 5th September 2023 was made following a vote which saw 32 out of the 46 colleges of education vote in favour of suspending the strike.
