CETAG Suspends Strike, Urges Employer to Comply with Outstanding Awards

The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has officially written to the National Labour Commission (NLC) regarding the directive issued on 30th August 2023 asking CETAG to call off their ongoing strike.

The leadership of CETAG stated they took steps to engage with their structures through their National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council between Friday, 1st and Monday, 4th September 2023 to decide on the directive.

The purpose of these engagements was to carefully evaluate the directive and make a decision based on the best interests of their members and stakeholders.

After thorough consideration and deliberation, they have decided to suspend the ongoing withdrawal of teaching and related services across all 46 public colleges of education, effectively immediately.

However, CETAG drew the attention of the NLC to the fact that the employer has failed to comply with the directive to provide the Staff Audit Report to appropriate stakeholders by the stipulated deadline of September 1st, 2023.

They, therefore, implored the Commission to impress on the Employer to comply with all the outstanding Compulsory Arbitral Awards by 30th October 2023, failure of which they shall advise themselves accordingly.
