The admission requirements for colleges of education in Ghana vary depending on the applicant’s educational background.

Here are the general requirements for the 4-Year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) program:

WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants:

WASSCE Holders: Credit passes (A1-C6) in six subjects, including three core subjects (English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies) and three elective subjects relevant to the course of study.

SSSCE Holders: Credit passes (A-D) in six subjects, including three core subjects (English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies) and three elective subjects relevant to the course of study.

GCE Advanced Level Applicants:

Passes in three subjects (at least one of the passes should be Grade D or better).

Credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and a Science or Social Science subject.

Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Applicants:

Certificate II in three relevant trade areas awarded by the Technical Examinations Unit (TEU), National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI), City & Guilds, and other authorized awarding bodies.

NABPTEX Certificate II in relevant trade areas in addition to three credit passes in WASSCE/SSSCE core subjects, including English and Mathematics.

Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) Applicants:

Passes in three subjects (at least one of the passes should be Grade D or better).

Credit passes in five subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE).

Special Admission for Persons with Disabilities:

Visually impaired applicants can apply to specific colleges such as N.J. Ahmadiyya College of Education (Wa), Wesley College of Education (Kumasi), and Presbyterian College of Education (Akropong).

Hearing-impaired applicants can apply to Presbyterian College of Education (Akropong).

4-Year B.Ed Programmes:

Ghanaian colleges of education have transitioned to offering 4-Year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programs.

  • B.Ed Early Grade Education
  • B.Ed Primary Education
  • B.Ed Junior High Education (JHS)

This new structure allows colleges to rigorously select applicants who meet the specified admission requirements to ensure high academic standards and quality teacher training.

Complete the Online Application: Visit https://admission.coeportal.edu.gh/CardLogin.aspx and fill out the application form accurately. Upload the required documents, including a passport photo and academic details.

Submit Your Application: Print a copy of your completed application form and send it via EMS (Express Mail Service/Post Office Box ) to your first-choice College of Education.
