Professor Jophus Anamuah-Mensah, A Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba(UEW), is an excellent researcher who has published widely in the area of learning, teacher education, and indigenous knowledge systems.
In his presentation as the Guest Speaker for a three-day science and mathematics training workshop organized for teachers in the KEEA Municipality at Archbishop Porter Girls Polytechnic, Elmina, Prof asserted the development of the country depends on teachers and not politicians.
With juxtapositions, Professor Anamuah Mensah indicated that any country that treats teachers satisfactorily develops.
“Teachers are the shadows of parents exhibiting affection and seldom admonishing, reaching out to be creators narrating noble deeds”, he expressed.
“Like a Goldsmith, teachers hammer to enrich skills and mold tiny infants to perfection. The teaching profession is a prominent one and every teacher must discern it as such.
“You play important role in making a child realize their dreams”
“You are the one that gives students roots and wings. The Roots to know where home is and wings to fly away and exercise what is being taught to them.”- Professor Anamuah expressed
He, therefore, urged the participants to see themselves as the nation developers and not politicians.
Professor Jophus Anamuah Mensah concluded by admonishing teachers to do away with the inferiority complex and see their profession as a noble one.
