The Ministry of Interior has officially declared Thursday, March 6th, 2025, a Statutory Public Holiday in observance of Ghana’s Independence Day.
The announcement, made via press release date February 28, 2025, ensures a nationwide holiday to commemorate the significant occasion.
“The general public is hereby informed that Thursday, 6th March, 2025, which marks Independence Day, is a Statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country,” the release stated.
Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP), signed the release, confirming the government’s decision to recognize and celebrate Ghana’s independence.

The holiday aims to offer citizens an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s history and progress since gaining independence.
