The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has a strict policy regarding students who fail to maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) above 1.0.
The university administration places paramount importance on students’ active engagement in courses and ensuring their mastery of the curriculum through consistent attendance and participation in various academic activities.
For Level 100 students, it is crucial to note that regular attendance is essential.
Suppose a Level 100 student is absent for a cumulative period exceeding 21 days. In that case, they will be obliged to withdraw from the program and consequently be disqualified from taking end-of-semester exams.
Additionally, students who fail up to three courses at the end of the semester are required to re-sit the failed courses during the subsequent semester.
However, should a Level 100 student fail more than three courses, the university may decide to completely withdraw them from the program, albeit with the possibility of reapplying at a later date.
Students from Level 200 to 400 face different criteria for progression. To advance, these students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 1.0.
If a student fails up to three courses at the end of the first semester, they will be allowed to re-sit the failed courses.
However, if a student fails more than three courses within the academic year, they may be subjected to probation or be required to repeat the year.
In cases where a student continues to struggle academically even after the probationary period, they may be awarded a Diploma instead of a degree.
For Level 400 students, the university allows them to re-sit trailed courses before their graduation.
Re-sit examinations are organized on a semester basis, and the university ensures prompt publication of results.
Students who face health-related issues have the option of applying for supplementary exams to accommodate their needs.
It is important to note that the university implements certain protocols for re-sit examinations, including a probation period, limitations on repeating a level, and fees associated with re-sitting papers.
