The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of Savannah College of Education has responded to the decision by the college’s management to suspend all teaching and teaching-related activities until further notice.

The decision was communicated in a letter dated 4th March 2025, in which the Management requested that the SRC provide a response as soon as possible regarding the decision.

In response to this communication, the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) convened meetings with the student body and representatives from all programmes and levels.

In a statement shared after the meeting with Coleman Publications, the SRC has resolved that students in levels 100 to 300 will remain on campus in anticipation of a resolution, while students in level 400 will return to their partner schools to continue their internships.

” While we are on campus, there should be no teaching and teaching-related activities until we hear from the team that went to Accra to work on the issue,” the statement read.

The SRC stated it remains hopeful that the delegation sent to Accra ( to see the President and the Education Minister) will return with favorable news, thereby enabling the resumption of teaching and teaching-related activities for students in levels 100 to 300.

“We pray and hope that they will return with good news which will automatically reset the minds of level 100-300 students to return to teaching and teaching-related activities.”

It should be noted that the suspension of academic activities at the college is a direct result of the student protests, which have been ‘organized’ to seek clarification and resolution regarding the college’s status.

The SRC concluded their statement by expressing their commitment to ensuring that the matter is resolved promptly, allowing students to continue their academic pursuits without further interruption.
