The Savannah College of Education has been officially absorbed into Ghana’s public tertiary education system, signifying a pivotal advancement in the government’s efforts to enhance access to quality teacher education across the nation.
The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), made the announcement following the institution’s successful fulfillment of all regulatory requirements.
This transition is in alignment with the government’s broader objective to strengthen the national educational framework and address disparities in teacher training.

A communiqué issued by the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit delineated the advantages of this integration, highlighting that the college will now operate under the governance and funding mechanisms of Ghana’s public tertiary education system.

Furthermore, this initiative is poised to broaden access to teacher education, particularly benefitting students from underserved regions.
