The Nursing and Midwifery Council (N&MC) has released a revised timetable for the 2025 Licensing Examination for Nurse Assistants, Nurses, and Midwives.

This comprehensive timetable outlines the examination dates for various programs, ensuring that candidates are well-prepared and informed about the upcoming assessments.

The Council has revealed that it is committed to maintaining high standards in nursing and midwifery practice, ensuring that all practitioners are qualified and registered to provide quality healthcare.

It should be noted that only Nurse Assistants, Nurses, and Midwives who have completed their education in accredited institutions and pass the licensing examination will be allowed to register and practice legally in the country.

Procedure and Requirements for Registration

After passing the Council’s licensing examination, a Nurse Assistant, Nurse, or Midwife must follow these steps to register and legally practice in the country:

  • Visit the Council’s Regional Office in the region where they trained.
  • Present the Results Slip (Letter from the Council indicating they passed the licensing examination).
  • Complete a Registration Form and pay a non-refundable Registration Fee.
  • Receive a Log Book for rotation, a Provisional License, and a Code for National Service registration.
  • After completing the Rotation/National Service, return the Log Book and Provisional License to the Regional Office where registered, and await the Professional Identification Number (PIN) and Certificate of Registration.

It should also be noted that the Council issues PINs to Nurses and Midwives and Auxiliary Identification Numbers (AIN) to Nurse Assistants upon registration completion.

Registration of Foreign-Trained Nurses and Midwives

Foreign-trained Nurse Assistants, Nurses, and Midwives who wish to practice in the country must also pass the Licensing Examination and meet other requirements.

Requirements for Foreign-Trained Professionals

  • Transcript of training
  • Three passport-sized photographs
  • Birth Certificate copy
  • Photocopies of Professional Certificates (originals for inspection)
  • Marriage certificate (if applicable)
  • Two testimonials from previous/current employers
  • Last appointment letter copy
  • Verification of registration from the original Council/Board
  • Certificate of proficiency in English
