Dr. Munawaru Issahaque has been appointed as the Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
Dr. Issahaque will assume the role of Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality and Access at the Ghana Education Service.
He succeeds Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, who held the position for over six and a half years.
Prior to his appointment, Dr. Issahaque served as the Savelugu Municipal Director of Education, where he oversaw the implementation of pre-tertiary educational policies at the municipal level.

Dr. Issahaque’s educational background includes a BED in Psychology (with Economics) from the University of Cape Coast (2000-2003) and a Master of Philosophy degree from the same institution (2006-2010).
He also served as the Headmaster of Salaga T. I Ahmadiyya Senior High School in 2015.
Beyond his educational career, Dr. Issahaque has been actively involved in politics, serving as the constituency secretary for Wa East for two terms and as a member of the Upper West Regional Communication Team.
He contested for Regional Secretary in 2015 and for Wa East parliamentary primaries in 2023. He also applied for the position of Wa East District Chief Executive (DCE).
In 2024, Dr. Issahaque made headlines when he graduated with a PhD in Social Administration from the University for Development Studies (UDS) at the same ceremony where his daughter, Zahida Issahaque, received her Bachelor of Science degree in Midwifery.
His achievement is seen as a testament to his dedication to lifelong learning.
