The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has announced the postponement of its 58th Special Congregation, initially scheduled for March 2025.

The decision was made following an emergency meeting of the university’s Executive Committee on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

The announcement, released by the Office of the Registrar, states that the committee deliberated on the university’s statutes concerning the convening of a congregation before deciding to postpone the event.

“The Executive Committee considered the relevant sections of the University Statutes regarding the summoning of the congregation and agreed that the 58th Special Congregation scheduled for March 2025 be postponed until further notice,” reads the official statement signed by Lucy Diawuo, Esq., Secretary of the Executive Committee and Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs).

The statement indicates that the postponement affects all prospective graduands and relevant officers, who have been duly informed. While the statement doesn’t provide specific reasons for the postponement, further details are expected to be released in the coming days.

The postponement leaves many prospective graduates and their families uncertain about the next steps.

The university has yet to announce a new date for the 58th Special Congregation, but university officials have pledged to keep the students informed.
