The National Teaching Council (NTC) has issued a strong disclaimer, urging the public to disregard a circulating false statement claiming that registration for the 2025 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) has commenced.
The Council made this announcement in an official statement dated March 31, 2025, highlighting the misinformation as misleading and entirely unfounded.
“It has come to the attention of the National Teaching Council (NTC) on a public false announcement purported to have come from the Council calling for registration of the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) slated for May 5 to 6, 2025,” the statement read.
NTC categorically denied the claims, emphasizing that it has neither opened the registration portal nor announced a date for the 2025 examination.
“The National Teaching Council has not opened the registration for GTLE neither has it set a date for GTLE,” the statement asserted.
The Council admonished prospective candidates to treat the circulating information as fraudulent. It called upon the public to exercise caution and verify any information through the NTC official communication channels.
“Candidates are advised to verify information only through the official NTC communication channels, including our official website and authorized social media accounts,” the Council stated.

The GTLE is a crucial requirement for all aspiring teachers in the country, designed to ensure a standardized level of competency and professionalism within the teaching fraternity.
The examination, administered by the NTC, assesses candidates on their knowledge of subject matter, pedagogical skills, and understanding of the Ghanaian educational system.
Successful completion of the GTLE is a prerequisite for obtaining a teaching license and securing employment in both public and private schools across the country.
The stakes are therefore high for the thousands of graduates from Colleges of Education and universities who aspire to join the teaching profession each year.
