MoMo Agents without Ghana Card linkage to lose their Accounts

The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications has announced that Electronic Money Issuers (EMIs) nationwide must link their accounts with either the Ghana Card or Tax Identification Number (TIN) before the end of business on January 31, 2024.

Failure to comply with this directive will result in the suspension of their SIM cards.

The announcement follows extensive discussions between the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), aiming to ensure transparency and adherence to regulatory requirements.

In a statement released on 30th January, 2024, the Chamber stressed that MoMo agents without Ghana Cards risk having their accounts blocked on February 1, 2024.

To ensure a smooth transition, affected agents have received direct communication from the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, notifying them of the impending deadline.

The Chamber has urged agents to promptly link their accounts to their Ghana Cards or TIN in order to avoid any disruptions in their operations.

For any agents who may find their accounts blocked on February 1, 2024, the Chamber has provided a solution.

They can visit any operator outlet with their Ghana Card or TIN to complete the necessary linking process and reinstate their accounts.
