We have received numerous questions regarding whether there will be recruitment this year, and Coleman Publications would like to use this article to answer this question and provide clarity on the matter.
Many people are asking this question because they claim they did not hear the finance minister mention it during the reading of the 2025 Budget on March 11, 2025.
Some have concluded, based on this, that the government has not made any allocation for 2025 recruitment.
Firstly, it should be noted that the 2025 budget, themed “Resetting the Economy for the Ghana we Want,” focuses on various key areas, including education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.
In the 2025 budget, the government allocated substantial funds to support these various critical sectors.
For instance, GH¢203 million has been allocated for the payment of teacher trainee allowances, and GH¢480 million for nursing trainee allowances.

Additionally, significant investments have been made to enhance infrastructure and services across various sectors, including education and healthcare.
After stating all the allocations, the Minister made it clear that “sector Ministers will be presenting to this House a detailed sectoral performance and outlook, as well as sector-specific policy interventions to deal with the challenges at various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). This is a departure from the norm where Ministers for Finance present detailed sectoral performance as part of the budget speech.” – 2025 Budget, Page 64
Therefore, there will be recruitment this year, and the necessary ministers in charge will have to send their appropriation requests to the Ministry of Finance for the required financial clearance.
It is important to disregard the claims that there would not be any recruitment in 2025 (recruitment freeze).

The government is committed to ensuring that essential public services are staffed adequately and that any gaps in manpower are addressed appropriately.
It should also be noted that the government has promised a 24-Hour Economy aimed at stimulating economic growth by creating an enabling environment for businesses and institutions to operate 24/7 in three shifts of eight hours each to boost production, promote productivity, and generate well-paying jobs.
“We will be presenting the policy to Parliament in due course for consideration. Accordingly, the Labour Act, the GIPC Act, and other enabling legislations will be reviewed.”

In summary, while there may have been concerns regarding the 2025 recruitment due to the budget allocations, the reality is that there will still be opportunities for new recruitment in essential public services like Ghana Education service and the like.
The government is dedicated to maintaining a functional and effective public sector workforce.
We hope this article provides clarity on the matter and reassures those concerned about potential recruitment opportunities in 2025.
