0

Coleman Publications has gathered valuable information regarding the status of teacher trainees’ allowances for the 2024/2025 academic year, amidst numerous inquiries from trainees questioning whether their allowances have been cancelled.

Coleman Publications is pleased to inform trainees that we have gathered sufficient information concerning the status of their allowance and what they need to know.

Firstly, teacher trainees are urged to note that their allowances remain intact for the 2024/2025 academic year.

According to recent information gathered by Coleman Publications, allowance coordinators at various colleges of education have been tasked to compile the data of students from levels 100 to 400 for the 2024/2025 academic year to facilitate the processing of their allowances.

Therefore, trainees in the various colleges of education are urged to ensure their particulars, most importantly their Ghana Card, are intact.

Coordinators may contact them to gather the necessary data for onward submission to the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF).

It should also be noted that the government still owes trainees three months’ worth of allowances for the 2023/2024 academic year, and the updated data that will be submitted will help with the processing of these outstanding payments.

Additionally, the SLTF has a new acting director who has emphasized the importance of accurate data.

The director has urged the various coordinators to put in their best efforts to ensure the data on trainees is accurate as has been always.

Trainees who completed their studies in 2024 should also note that the portion(feeding component) of their allowance that is paid to their college will be used to settle any arrears they may have.

That is, such funds will be used to settle any fees trainees may owe the college, including graduation fees.

Therefore, they are advised to exercise patience and be assured that what is due to them will be given(refunded) at the appropriate time.

Trainees should also be aware that the government’s plan to transition the allowance into an enhanced student loan is in progress.

However, for this academic year, the SLTF has ordered allowance coordinators to compile the details of trainees in their institutions, including first-year students.

Coleman Publications will continue to monitor this development and provide updates as deemed necessary to our cherished readers.
