Gambaga College of Education to Resume Classes after Shooting Incident -Check Here

0

The management of Gambaga College of Education has announced the resumption of lectures for Levels 100 to 300 following a recent shooting incident that claimed the life of a final-year student.

Classes are set to resume on Monday, March 17, 2025, according to a directive from the office of the Vice Principal.

According to the directive, this decision follows improved security measures implemented on and around the college campus.

The message from the Vice Principal’s office to students states, “Management has directed that lectures resume on Monday, March 17, 2025, for Levels 100, 200, and 300. This decision is in your best interest, as UDS will not adjust the schedules for mid-semester and end-of-semester examinations.”

The Vice Principal assured students of their safety, urging them to continue their learning activities without fear. “Security of the region is on top of current happenings,” the office emphasized.

As part of the measures to reassure the college community, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the North East Regional Security Council visited the college last Friday.

During the visit, they briefed the students on safety protocols and encouraged them to prioritize personal security.

Students were also advised to avoid leaving the campus at night, given that the shooting incident occurred outside the campus premises.

Background

This update follows a tragic incident earlier this month, in which a Level 400 student was found dead with gunshot wounds near the college’s campus fence.

The deceased was allegedly killed by unknown gunmen, with authorities suggesting a possible link to the ongoing violence in Bawku.

The incident led to the indefinite suspension of classes and consultations with local leaders, including the Gambaga Chief’s Palace.

With the security measures now in place, the college is set to resume operations while continuing to monitor the safety of its students and staff, as well as carrying out investigations into the killing of the final-year student.
