Colleges of Education 2024-2025 First Semester Vacation Date – Check Here

Many trainees are reaching out to our outlet asking if there has been a change regarding the first-semester vacation date for the public colleges of education across the country.

In this article, we are going to address these concerns and give an overview of the 2024/2025 academic calendar as outlined by PRINCOF for the academic year.

It should be noted that the public colleges of education across Ghana have announced a significantly longer first semester vacation period for Levels 100, 200, and 300 students for the 2024/2025 academic year.

This was disclosed by the National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education – Ghana (PRINCOF) on January 27th, 2025, in the revised academic calendar released.

According to the official communique, the first semester for Levels 100, 200, and 300 students will run from January 27th, 2025, to April 2nd, 2025, culminating in examinations from April 21st to May 2nd.

This will be followed by a six-week vacation period, extending from May 3rd to June 14th, 2025. This extended break is considerably longer than typical semester breaks and will provide students with a significant period for rest and personal development.

“Following recent developments in the Colleges of Education and the resolution of issues affecting the academic calendar, we hereby bring to your notice the adjusted calendar for the 2024/2025 Academic Year for all public colleges of education in Ghana,” the PRINCOF Secretariat stated in its official release on January 27, 2025.

The second semester for all levels (100-400) is scheduled to commence on June 16th, 2025, and conclude on September 5th, 2025, with examinations running from September 8th to 19th. The academic year will officially end on September 20th, 2025.

The detailed breakdown of the revised academic calendar is as follows:

  • November 11th – 15th, 2024: Level 400 Students report for orientation towards Macro Teaching.
  • November 15th, 2024: Level 400 Students report to schools of attachment for Macro Teaching.
  • January 27th – April 18th, 2025: Levels 100, 200, and 300 Students report to campus for the first semester.
  • March 21st, 2025: Macro Teaching End date for Level 400 students
  • April 21st – May 2nd, 2025: End of first semester examinations for Levels 100, 200, and 300 Students.
  • May 3rd – June 14th, 2025: Semester break for Levels 100, 200, and 300 Students.
  • June 16th – September 5th, 2025: Levels 100, 200, 300, and 400 report to campus for the second semester.
  • September 8th – 19th, 2025: End of second semester examinations for Levels 100, 200, 300, and 400 Students.
  • September 20th, 2025: End of Academic Year.

PRINCOF in the statement urged all public Colleges of Education to align their academic activities with the revised calendar.

The extended vacation period is expected to provide students with ample time for reflection, personal development, and preparation for the subsequent semester.
