Numerous are messaging asking about why the need for SSNIT and E-Zwich numbers when enrolling at a college of Education. Here is a brief reason;
Students in the colleges of education are paid monthly stipends(allowances ) which is Gh¢400.00
Out of the Gh¢400.00, Gh¢149.00 is paid directly to their college as feeding grants, and the remaining is sent to them through their E-Zwich.
This sounds to reasoning without the E-Zwich you can not be a partaker of this monthly allowance.
It is also mandatory for workers in Ghana to contribute to the SSNIT Scheme during their working life to receive a monthly pension during retirement or when incapacitated. And as a trainee receiving these stipends, it’s obligatory to have The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) Number.
One must note that their data with SSNIT and that of the E-Zwich must tally else one would not be able to receive these stipends when disbursements are made by the Students Loans Trust Fund(SLTF). Hence one must becareful and ensure their credentials tally
NOTE: YOU WILL NEED AN ADMISSION LETTER TO REGISTER FOR THE SSNIT.
Some colleges also make the necessary arrangements with some banks to come and register their freshers when they report on campus. However, it is prudent to have it ready before you report on campus.
