WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is one of the world’s most popular instant messaging applications, with over 2 billion users worldwide.

It is used for personal and business communication and has become the go-to choice for many people.

The app has introduced a new feature that has been requested by users for quite some time – the ability to edit messages.

Many users have found themselves in situations where they send a message with some errors – typos, grammatical errors, or incorrect words – and once sent, it cannot be corrected.

As a result, the app has now included an editing feature to make messaging even more convenient.

Bound by Time:

The time frame for editing a message on WhatsApp is fifteen (15) minutes. This means that a user has only 15 minutes from the time the message was sent to edit it again and correct any mistakes made.

After the 15-minute time frame has elapsed, the message can no longer be edited.

How to Edit Messages on WhatsApp:

Editing messages is simple and can be done following the steps below:

  1. Hold and long-press the message you wish to edit
  2. Locate the three dots at the top right corner of the screen and click on it
  3. A drop-down menu will appear with the following options: Info, Copy and Edit
  4. Select Edit and make the necessary edits that you wish
  5. Once satisfied with the changes, click on send, and the edited message will be sent.

It is noteworthy that once a message has been edited, it will be tagged as “edited” below the text. This is done to let the recipient know that the message has been edited or modified from its original form.
