The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has announced the conclusion of its strike, which had been ongoing for over two months.

The decision to call off the strike was made during an emergency virtual meeting of the association’s National Council on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

The statement issued by CETAG revealed that the strike was called off following a meeting with Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on August 15, 2024, at the Jubilee House.

During the meeting, the government gave assurances that the outstanding concerns of CETAG would be addressed.

“In an emergency virtual National Council meeting of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) today, Tuesday, 20th August 2024, Council members have voted unanimously to call off the ongoing strike action of the Association with immediate effect,” the statement explained.

5. The nomenclature for migrating senior members of the teaching staff will be Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, and Professor, in line with the affiliate universities’ Scheme of Service.

6. Compensation for all-year-round work done in 2022 will be paid by the end of August 2024.

7. Holders of researched Master’s degrees will be migrated as Assistant Lecturers.
