The Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has expressed confidence in the University of Education, Winneba’s (UEW) ability to position itself as a leading institution for teacher education on a global scale.
During an exclusive interview with the UEW Media, the Minister highlighted the university’s strong foundation and revealed plans that could elevate UEW to international recognition.
This comes after a closed-door meeting with the university’s Management at the AH Hotel in Accra on Monday, 4th December 2023.

The meeting served as an introduction of the Chancellor, Neenyi Ghartey VII, and Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual to the Education Minister.
During the discussion, the university’s leadership presented a strategic roadmap for UEW’s transformation into a world-class institution for teacher education.
Hon. Dr. Adutwum expressed his full support for the proposed initiatives, citing renowned institutions such as Columbia and Teachers College as benchmarks for UEW’s potential.
“I promise to work with the university. The leadership has outlined for me some of the great things they intend to do, and I’m fully in support. I believe UEW has the potential to become the best university for education in the world, like Columbia and Teachers College, and what they do there,” he stated.
