TUTAG Calls Off Indefinite Strike Action With Immediate Effect

The Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana, TUTAG has announced the suspension of their strike action declared on Monday, November 18, 2022, with immediate effect.

In a release signed by Surv. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Collins Ameyaw, the President, and Abubakari Zakari (PhD), General Secretary, the Association stated their negotiations on internally generated fund-related, conditions of service, off-campus and vehicle maintenance allowances have been successful, adding a memorandum of agreement has also been signed between the government team and the labour unions (TUTAG, UTAG, GAUA and TEWU).

They, therefore, urged their members in the 10 Public Technical Universities in the country to resume work on Monday, December 12, 2022.

Following the conclusion of negotiations on internally generated fund-related conditions of service, off-campus and vehicle maintenance allowances, and under the memorandum of
the agreement signed between the government team and the labor unions (TUTAG, UTAG, GAUA, and TEWU), we announce the suspension of the strike action declared on Monday. November 18, 2022. The suspension takes immediate effect.

We, therefore urge all members of the 10 Public Technical Universities to resume work on Monday, December 12, 2022.

We wish to express our gratitude to the National Labour Commission for helping the parties reach an agreement about the above allowances.

We thank the Honorable Minister of Education for his honesty, sincerity, and participation throughout the negotiation process.
