Many teacher trainees are urgently reaching out to Coleman Publications, requesting information about their allowance payments, particularly the date and amount.
In light of this, we aim to provide some clarifications and highlight some potential changes that they should be prepared for.
It is important to note that while the Minister of Education has assured trainees that funds have been secured for the payment of their allowances, no specific timeframe has been provided for when these disbursements will be made.
Furthermore, it should be noted that since the second semester’s academic activities have not yet started due to the industrial action by CETAG, the government only owes trainees two months of their first semester.

This means that any disbursement that will be made to trainees will only cover those two months.
In addition to these concerns, PRINCOF is also calling for an increase in the feeding component of the allowance sent to them.
Therefore, trainees are likely to see another reduction in their allowance unless adjustments and interventions are made as proposed by TTAG.

And if the demands of PRINCOF are not met, trainees may be asked to fend for themselves or receive meals only once or twice a day.
This is because PRINCOF is finding it difficult to feed trainees at GH₵6.50 daily per head.
Another important thing for trainees to note is that they were fed by their Principals while their tutors(CETAG) were on strike.
Therefore, if the government does not intervene when the strike ends and academic activities resume, trainees may be forced to feed themselves.

This is because they have already been fed during the strike with their second semester feeding component, which the government has yet to pay.
Therefore, if you are a trainee, be prepared and know that the impact of the industrial action by CETAG is also likely to have financial implications for you.
