The Methodist College of Education climaxed its 10 years Anniversary Celebration in grand style on Saturday, 28th October 2023 at Dr. & Mrs Kwarko Conference Hall – St. Luke Methodist Church, Akyem Oda.
The Anniversary was under the theme: “A Decade of Academic Excellence In Teacher Education: Challenges And Prospects”
The momentous event brought together Leadership of the Methodist Church, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, Nananom, Heads of Colleges, Staff of the College, Students, Alumni and other Dignitaries.

The Climax of the Anniversary was preceded by a two week-long activities filled with enormous joy to commemorate the historical event.
The 10th Anniversary was marked by unveiling ‘a bust’ erected at the academic block in honour of the founder and also the commissioning of an ultra modern building to be used as a male hostel.
In addition, goodwill messages were received from stakeholders, there was a presentation of awards to deserving staff and people in the college community, cutting of anniversary cake, and cultural displays among others.
The Guest Speaker, Prof. Emmanuel Obed Acquah (University of Education, Winneba) in his address, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the celebration.
He acknowledged the efforts of past leaders and all stakeholders whose contributions have brought the College this far. Prof. Acquah mentioned that the teacher pupil ratio has seen an improvement and applauded the many graduates that the college has trained over the years.

He also urged for a strong collaboration between GTEC and affiliate universities for a better academic excellence in Teacher Education.
The Chairman for the occasion who doubles as the Chairman of the College Governing Council and the Diocesan Bishop of Akyem Oda, The Rt. Rev. Isaac Kwame Boateng in his address recounted the birth of the College at the 25th Annual Synod of the Akyem Oda Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana held at the Calvary Society, Akyem Asene in the year 2011.
The Chairman touched on the need for stakeholders’ commitment and also to deal with the infrastructure deficit of the College.
He also mentioned that “the college has lots and lots of prospects, some of which are already manifesting” He expressed appreciation to some individuals who have contributed to the height of the present state of the College.
In his welcome address, the Principal, Very Rev. Solomon K. Gyamerah acknowledged the faithfulness of God in the affairs of the college and expressed his outmost appreciation to all stakeholders for their resilience and hard work that keeps the college on its path of achieving its vision and mission.

He highlighted the achievements and some challenges of the school. He indicated that as part of the anniversary, a Project Committee in collaboration with the Development Committee has been setup to develop a road map for the extension of the College to the Asene-Aboabo campus.
He also emphasized on the need for an ultra-modern administration complex on the Asene-Aboabo land which can be possible through GETFund.
The Principal also made a special appeal to the congregants for a college bus. He concluded with an appreciation to pioneer staff members, past and present, Past Principal and Ag. Principals for their hard work and dedication to the College.
The College community and the congregants were also blessed to receive other goodwill messages from other dignitaries.

As part of the 10th Anniversary ceremony, Special Awards were presented to selected Stakeholders, long serving and dedicated teaching and non teaching staff, outstanding students and others.
A beautiful anniversary cake was also cut at the end of the goodwill messages to mark the occasion.
The 10th Anniversary Climax saw many dignitaries, notable amongst were; Hon. Yaw Osafo Maafo (Senior Presidential Advisor), Rt. Rev. Michael A. Bossman (Admin.
