Teacher Trainees’ Allowances: Payment Delays Continue

The teacher trainees’ allowances for the first semester of the 2023/2024 academic year remain unpaid, leaving students and stakeholders concerned.

The delays have been attributed to the refusal of allowances coordinators in colleges of education to upload students’ details.

These coordinators are reportedly demanding compensation for the additional work they have been handling in recent years.

As a result, the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) lacks updated student information necessary for payment processing.

The fund (government) cannot determine the total amount required for disbursement and the details of trainees, particularly for the freshers (level 100) and continuing students in some colleges.

The next course of action by the SLTF remains unclear.

Consequently, the timing of the allowance payments hinges on the submission of student details by the allowance coordinators.
