The Principals of the various public Colleges of Education across the country have begun refunding the feeding grant for the first semester of the 2023/2024 academic year to final year students.

This is because final year students were not on campus during the first semester of the 2023/2024 academic year while they were undertaking their Macro Teaching placements.

As a result, they were not provided with meals by the college. Therefore, final year students are entitled to a refund for the feeding component of their allowance for that semester.

Principals of the various colleges are currently processing these refunds.

However, it should be noted that some colleges held training sessions for the final year students on the Macro Teaching before their placements.

During these training days, students were provided with meals by the college. The cost of these meals will be calculated based on the number of training days held and deducted from the total feeding grant.

Ultimately, it should be noted that the refund will not be provided in cash to trainees as some might anticipate.

Instead, it will be used to deduct any outstanding fees owed to the college.

If students do not owe any fees, the college will refund the amount to their bank accounts upon completion of their studies.

In the meantime, student accounts will be credited with the amount that the college is to refund.
