Yes! Jesus died on Thursday and not Friday as we’ve made to believe all these years. Let’s start with Jesus’ own words
For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Matthew 12:40 NKJV
Jesus emphatically said that just like Jonah, he will also be in the heart of the earth (grave) for 3 DAYS AND 3 NIGHTS.
If indeed Jesus died on Friday evening as popularly believed by most in the church, let’s count or calculate and see if his resurrection will fall on Sunday.
Friday evening – 1 night
Saturday Morning/afternoon – 1 day
Saturday evening – 2 Nights,
Sunday Morning- 2 days
No matter which way you count it, if counted from Friday, it will never be 3 days and 3 nights.
So, if Jesus really died on Friday and rose on Sunday, then either we are lying or Jesus is lying.
But the truth is, Jesus died on a Thursday.
I believe what confused people is the statement the bible made that the day Jesus died was a day in which the people were preparing for Sabbath.
Sabbath is Saturday. So they reason that Jesus died on Friday because of this.
However, that is wrong. There are 2 types of Sabbaths.
There’s the normal Sabbath which they observe every Saturday. But there’s also THE PASSOVER SABBATH which is called HIGH SABBATH.
This one is celebrated every yearly.
The next day (Friday) after Jesus death was a high Sabbath.
Because of the high Sabbath, the Sabbath fell on Friday.
So Jesus died on Thursday. The day they were preparing for the passover Sabbath which was on a Friday.
