The National Teaching Council (NTC) has extended the deadline for untrained teachers to register for a teaching license.
The new deadline is August 31, 2024, according to a recent social media post by the NTC.
The extension applies to in-service teachers who were employed before September 2018.
These teachers are urged to visit https://ntc.gov.gh/dnpt/ and fill out the registration form.
This extension comes as part of the NTC’s effort to support non-professional teachers in acquiring the necessary registration and licensing.

The NTC has also announced a separate deadline of December 2024 for approximately 30,000 non-professional teachers to obtain their teaching registration and licensing.
This includes both bachelor’s degree and non-bachelor’s degree holders who were recruited prior to the introduction of the licensure regime in 2018.
Degree holders will be required to enroll in a 16-week Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) program at an accredited teacher education university, while other categories of untrained teachers will need to complete a one-week Boot Camp training program.

The NTC Registrar, Dr. Christian Addai Poku, emphasized the importance of taking advantage of this opportunity, reminding teachers that those who fail to register by the December deadline will be required to write the licensure examination even if they subsequently upgrade their qualifications.
