The National Service Scheme (NSS) has announced the opening of registration for defaulters and private candidates for the 2024/2025 service year.

This opportunity is available to Ghanaian citizens who were unable to enroll for their national service in previous years after completing their tertiary education.

Required Documents and Application Process

Eligible applicants include individuals who started but could not complete their national service, private candidates certified by accredited tertiary institutions, and Ghanaian nationals who have studied abroad.

To register, applicants must;

  • Submit a letter requesting a PIN Code or reactivation of a PIN Code
  • A certified true copy of their School Certificate or Transcript
  • Evidence of a Deferment Letter if applicable
  • An Attestation/Introductory Letter from the institution attended
  • A copy of the Ghana Card,
  • A copy of their Student ID

Original copies of these documents must be attached for verification, and foreign students must provide proof of study abroad.

 Submission of Details

All eligible candidates are required to submit their registration documents to any of the Regional Offices of the Scheme across the country or the NSS Headquarters in Accra.

Deadline

The registration period is from April 10, 2024, to June 28, 2024, between the hours of 8.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m., excluding weekends and public holidays.

It is important to note that the Ghana National Service Scheme Act, 1980 (Act 426) mandates any Ghanaian citizen who has attained the age of eighteen years or more and has completed an accredited tertiary institution to undertake national service to the State.
