The Ministry of Interior has officially declared Monday, March 31st, and Tuesday, April 1st, as Statutory Public Holidays to be observed nationwide.
This announcement comes as the Muslim community prepares to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
In a press statement released, Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak stated:
“The general public is hereby informed that Sunday, March 30, 2025, or Monday, March 31, 2025, marks Eid-ul-Fitr, which is a Statutory Public Holiday. However, in view of the fact that March 30, 2025, falls on a Sunday, and in the interest of the public, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has, by Executive Instrument (E.I.), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), declared Monday, March 31, 2025, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as additional Public Holidays to be observed as such throughout the country.”

Eid-ul-Fitr is a significant religious holiday observed by Muslims globally, signifying the completion of 29 or 30 days of fasting from dawn until sunset during Ramadan.
The extended holiday provides an opportunity for families and communities to come together and celebrate this important occasion.
