President John Dramani Mahama has dissolved all statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils appointed by the previous administration, effective January 7th, 2025.
The move, officially announced on Monday, January 13th, is in accordance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845).
The announcement, issued by the Presidency, states that all board memberships stemming from appointments made by the former President or any former Minister of State have ceased upon President Mahama’s assumption of office.

This sweeping directive affects a wide range of governmental bodies, excluding only those commissions that are considered independent constitutional creations.
The government has stated that the affected organizations will be reconstituted in due course, adhering to their specific enabling legislation.
President Mahama, in the announcement, expressed his gratitude to all affected board members for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavors.

In the interim, management teams of these dissolved bodies have been instructed to seek clearance from the Chief of Staff before making any significant decisions.
This measure is designed to ensure smooth operation during the transition period and while the boards are being re-established.
