The Government has released GHc150 million to fund road contractors to repair potholes scattered across the country’s road network.
This financial allocation forms part of the initial quarter disbursements from the Ministry of Finance to the Ministry of Roads and Highways, as confirmed in an official statement released on February 15 by Nasir Ahmad Yartey, the Head of Public Relations at the Ministry of Roads and Highways.

The press release highlighted the urgency of the situation, stating that the funds will facilitate the Ghana Highways Authority and the Department of Urban Roads in seizing the dry season to conduct essential maintenance work on key roads affected by last year’s heavy rains.
“The intervention is to enable the Ghana Highways Authority and the Department of Urban Roads to take advantage of the dry season to undertake routine pothole patching activities on some major roads which deteriorated last year due to heavy rains,” the release explained.

According to the Ministry, “it is hopeful that this timely intervention will result in smoother road surfaces, help reduce the risk of accidents and prolong the lifespan of our road infrastructure.”
Furthermore, the Ministry reiterated its unwavering dedication to resolving road network issues nationwide and urged public cooperation in their ongoing endeavors to enhance the country’s overall road network.
