Government declares Monday, January 8, as a Public Holiday

In an official statement released by the Ministry of Interior, the General Public is hereby informed that Sunday, 7th January 2024, marks Constitution Day, a statutory public holiday.

However, due to the fact that 7th January 2024 falls on a Sunday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has taken executive action. Through an official Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), Monday, 8th January 2024 has been declared a public holiday.

Constitution Day holds great significance as it serves as a reminder of the nation’s democratic values and the importance of upholding the Constitutionthe .

On this day, citizens are encouraged to reflect on the principles enshrined in the constitution and actively participate in activities aimed at promoting good governance, the rule of law, and human rights.
