The Better Dream Foundation Ghana has expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to the victims of the devastating fire that recently tore through the Kantamanto Market.
In a statement issued on January 3, 2025, the foundation called on the government to investigate the cause of the fire outbreak.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the victims, their families, and loved ones. We understand the immense loss and hardship this disaster has caused, and we share in your grief “- the statement reads.
The foundation emphasized the urgent need for government action to address the recurring issue of market fires in the country.
“It is our wish that the next government will put in place strategic measures to overcome this issue of fire outbreaks in most of our trading centers. This has become a recurring issue and we hope that government finds a lasting solution.”
In a related story, The Ghana National Union of Technical Students (GNUTS) has also issued a heartfelt call for a comprehensive investigation following the recent devastating fire outbreak at the Kantamanto Market.
In a press statement released by President Yahuza Gariba Alhassan, the Union expressed solidarity with the affected traders and urged authorities to uncover the underlying causes of the blaze.
The statement emphasized the need for an in-depth probe to identify systemic weaknesses in the construction and management of market facilities nationwide.
The Union advocates for practical recommendations aimed at enhancing fire safety standards across all markets in Ghana, ensuring that such tragedies are prevented in the future.
In addition to seeking answers, the GNUTS highlighted the urgency of support for the impacted traders, many of whom are parents with children in school.
They called on the government and private individuals to extend assistance, as these traders face significant hardships in the aftermath of the fire.
