Hon. Bismark Offin, the Assembly Member for Adobewura, a farming community in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality, has made a plea to Hon. Alfred Obeng Boateng, the Member of Parliament, as well as other benevolent individuals to provide support in obtaining portable water.
Hon. Offin expressed concern about the negative impact of galamsey activities on the water bodies in the area, which has affected the quality of the water the community drinks. This has resulted in an increased risk of contracting waterborne diseases such as cholera.
Adobewura has over a thousand residents, including humans and mammals, which share the same water body, hence the urgent need for clean water.
The Assembly Member, who highlighted the contribution of Adobewura to the success of the Akufo-Addo government and the NPP, called for serious consideration to be given to the community’s needs.
Hon. Offin also appealed to the Municipal Assembly to attend to a hazardous section of the Sefwi Bekwai-Adobewura road, which has caused the community trouble for some time. He described the hurtful road as a death trap and begged for urgent repairs to be carried out.
In conclusion, Hon. Offin implored the local authorities and other benevolent individuals to provide Adobewura with access to portable water and proper road maintenance to prevent road accidents, improve the health and wellbeing of the residents and enhance their livelihoods.
