The Leadership of the National Union of Ghana Students, NUGS led by Master Kwadwo Kwarteng Badu, the Secretary for the society and Welfare Fund has donated a cheque of Gh¢50,000 to Josephine Boatemaa to clear the medical bills of Godswill Kweku Ocloo.
The donation made on 1st February 2023 was part of the NUGS Welfare Fund Initiative by the Welfare Committee.
According to NUGS, Duobeng Anane Mark, The SRC President for offinso College of Education wrote to the welfare committee on 18th June 2022 requesting financial support for Josephine Boatema, a student from his college.
Josephine is the mother of Godswill Ocloo, a six-year-old student of Immaculate Heart of Mary International School who suffered a fracture in the right leg due to his school bus hitting him from behind.
Godswill was rushed to the St. Patrick Hospital for treatment but was later referred to the comfort Anokye Teaching Hospital for surgery.
This left Josephine and her family hopeless over the months until the intervention of NUGS this month.
In the presentation of the cheque, Mr. Badu thanked the National Lottery Authority Headed by Mr.Samuel Awuku, and The Good Causes Foundation led by Anna Frimpong and David Nkansah Anto(DNA)for supporting NUGS to deliver and supporting such a life-saving initiative.

On behalf of the students and the leadership, The Principal of Offinso College, Rev. Joseph Nkyi Asamoah who was present at the event expressed his profound gratitude to NUGS for their unflinching support. He also seized the opportunity to appeal to them regarding the pressing need for infrastructure and learning materials in the college.
