Komenda College of Education 17th Matriculation Sees 48% Female Students Joining

The 17th matriculation ceremony of Komenda College of Education for the 2023/2024 academic year took place on February 20th, 2024, with a total of 334 fresh students being matriculated.

Notably, 48% of the matriculated students were females, reflecting the college’s efforts to ensure gender balance in admissions.

During the admissions process for the academic year, the management of the college made efforts to ensure a balanced gender representation among the students admitted.

These students are enrolled in the various B.Ed Programmes offered by the college: Early Grade Education, Primary Education, and JHS Education (Mathematics/Science, Mathematics/ICT, Agriculture Science, Technical Education, Visual Arts, and Home Economics)

Speaking at the ceremony, Very Reverend Kwesi Nkum Wilson (PhD), the principal, encouraged the freshers to uphold the college’s mission of promoting academic excellence and holistic development.

He emphasized the values of integrity, dedication, and passion in their pursuit of knowledge and urged them to be prepared for the opportunities and challenges ahead.

Dr. Wilson also highlighted the strategic partnership between the college and its basic schools and how it has helped enhance the practical teaching experiences for students, thereby improving the quality of their training.

Addressing the audience, Professor Humphery Danso from the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), congratulated the students and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to supporting the College in its pursuit of educational excellence and innovation.

He introduced the College Community to an advanced online library facility, offering digital resources and journals to enhance the students’ learning experience.

“Our library facilities are among the best in the country, offering much more than traditional brick-and-mortar structures labelled ‘Library Block”, he expressed.

“In today’s digital age, our library is accessible online, providing students with a wealth of resources that extend beyond physical books. I am delighted to share that your principal, Very Reverend Dr. Wilson, has affirmed that Komenda College of Education library can also boast of essential and relevant journals that can support students’ training” he added.

Professor Humphery Danso also shared their (AAMUSTED’s)  student management system with the students.

He explained that the platform will allow students to register for their semester courses from the comfort of their homes, and to conveniently access their end-of-semester results online among others.

Professor Humphery Danso further noted that students will also be able to check the status of their fees, review payment history, and access comprehensive information for academic progress on the system.

“We are eager to share our extensive resources with you, to ensuring that you have everything necessary to thrive in your academic journey”, he concluded
