On the 24th of May, Komenda Circuit’s two Methodist Public Basic schools, Komenda College Practice Basic and Aldersgate Methodist Basic School, marked Wesley Day with a grand church service at the Wesley Methodist Church, Komenda.
The event was graced by Reverend Wilson Kotei Kotey, the Chaplain for Komenda College of Education, who took to the pulpit to shed light on the significance of the celebration and the urgent need for authentic repentance among all Christians.
Wesley Day is an annual celebration observed by Methodist Christians worldwide. It commemorates the life-changing experience of Church of England priest, John Wesley, who on the same day in 1738, attended a group meeting in Aldersgate, London, where he received assurance of his New Birth.
Wesley’s assurance experience was so pivotal to his spiritual journey that it led to the development of the Methodist movement in Britain and America.
Today, the Methodist Church continues to honour and celebrate the life and teachings of John Wesley, inspiring millions of Christians across the world to live a life of purpose, faith, and love.
As the school children and other attendees observed Wesley Day, they were reminded of the essence of true faith and the importance of repentance as a core tenet of the Christian faith.
The grand church service provided a conducive atmosphere for all to worship, reflect, and renew their commitment to living a life that honours God and inspires positive change in their communities.
