The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has called on the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission to execute the in-in-out-out system before the start of the next academic year.

This plea was made during a press conference held on Wednesday where the association addressed various pressing issues in the Public colleges of Education in the country.

The association highlighted the lack of infrastructure to support the 4-year Degree programmes in the colleges of education, leading to a significant deficit in facilities.

Lecture halls and accommodation for trainees were identified as major problems facing the colleges, with little action being taken by stakeholders to address these issues.

TTAG proposed the implementation of the in-in-out-out system, where first- and second-year trainees would stay on campus and attend lectures, while third and final-year trainees would commute from home to lectures.

The association believes that this system would help alleviate the challenges posed by the current infrastructure deficit and eliminate the need for the double-track system in colleges of education.

In addition to infrastructure concerns, TTAG also called on the government to provide buses to the various colleges of education.

The lack of transportation has made it difficult for trainees to participate in the supported teaching in school programme, which is a crucial component of the B.Ed Programme.

TTAG emphasized that with only 46 colleges of education in the country, providing buses should not be a challenge for the government.

The association urged the necessary authorities to address these pressing issues in the colleges of education, emphasizing the importance of ensuring quality education for trainee teachers.
