The National President of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG), Solae Razak, has given teacher trainees across the public colleges of education a reason to be hopeful. .

In his latest communication, Razak has urged trainees to have their e-zwich cards ready as the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) is making necessary arrangements to disburse some of the overdue allowances for the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year.

In his recent social media post, he directly addressed trainees, asking, “Where is your e-zwich card?” – a clear indication that payments are in the works.

This announcement comes after months of uncertainty, with trainees having gone the entire second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year without receiving their allowances.

Many had lost hope in receiving these arrears, particularly in the wake of the change in government.

However, the recent update from TTAG’s National President has reignited a spark of optimism among trainees.

Razak’s succinct message, “Where is your e-zwich card?” has gained traction and brought a glimmer of hope to the teacher trainees.

The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) is reportedly making the final arrangements to initiate the disbursement.

According to close sources, it has been indicated that if all goes as planned, trainees can expect a disbursement of two months’ worth of arrears this week.

While the Mahama-led administration has included the cancellation of trainee allowances in its manifesto, the exact date of its implementation remains uncertain.

However, reliable information gathered suggests that arrears will be disbursed to trainees and principals (feeding components) before any potential changes take effect.
