The President of the Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education, Ghana (PRINCOF), Professor Samuel Atintono, has urged the Colleges of Education Teachers’ Association of Ghana (CETAG) to reconsider their ongoing strike.
Speaking on the Joynews “Pulse” show monitored by Coleman Publications on 25th July, 2024, Professor Atintono highlighted the ‘productive meeting’ between the government and CETAG on Wednesday.
He expressed confidence that the government is committed to fulfilling CETAG’s demands.

“We had a fruitful discourse with the minister and CETAG,” Professor Atintono stated. “We believe the government is committed to addressing their concerns, and we hope CETAG’s National Council Meeting on Friday will result in a positive outcome and the end of the strike.”
Acknowledging the disruption caused by the strike to students and academic activities, Professor Atintono expressed hope for a swift resolution.

He noted that several ‘proposals’ are on the table to mitigate the impact of lost lecture hours, including extending contact hours and potentially holding classes on weekends.
While Professor Atintono could not confirm whether the academic calendar would be extended, he assured that efforts are underway to minimize any disruption to the 2023/2024 academic calendar.
