WAEC Unable to Release 2024 WASSCE Results Due to GH₵118 Million Government Debt

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has announced that it will not be able to release the 2024 WASSCE results as scheduled due to a GH₵118 million Government debt.

In a statement issued on December 9th, 2024, signed by John K. Kapi, the Head of Public Affairs for WAEC, it was revealed that the scanning of the objective cards of the exams, which was supposed to take place from November 1 to November 30, 2024, has not been completed due to a breakdown of scanners used for the process.

The stated revealed that the Council is currently awaiting the release of additional funds from the Ministry of Education to repair the scanners to enable the scanning process and other post-examination activities to continue smoothly.

“The Council is awaiting the release of additional funds out of the outstanding balance of GHC 118,000,000.00 from the Ministry of Education for the repair of the scanners to enable the scanning process”

WAEC has appealed to its examination officials and suppliers to be patient as payment for their services will be made as soon as the necessary funds are received.

WAEC also urged the public to disregard any information circulating on social media claiming to have the dates for the release of results.

The Council assured the public that the results will be released as soon as the issues with the post-examination activities are resolved.

The West African Examinations Council began administering the WASSCE for School Candidates in 2024 on August 5th, and the exam concluded on September 20, 2024.

The marking of essays and other practical components took place from November 7 to November 29, 2024.
