The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released the timetable for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School specifically for Ghanaian candidates.
WAEC is conducting the WASSCE separately for Ghanaian candidates because Ghana has not been able to align its academic calendar which was disrupted by COVID-19 with that of other member countries of the West African Exams Council.
Timetable Details
According to the 2024 WASSCE for School timetable, the Ghana version of the examination will begin on Monday, August 5, 2024, and conclude on Friday, September 27, 2024.

Despite the difference in the examination period, WAEC emphasizes that the standard of the examination remains unchanged.

International Coordination
WAEC assures that the examination papers for Ghanaian candidates are compiled by officers across the member countries.
Additionally, international coordination meetings are held to finalize draft marking schemes.

Subsequently, the International Awards Committee determines the grade boundaries for all subjects after the marking exercise.
These measures ensure that the examination written by Ghana maintains its international status.
Purpose of WASSCE
WASSCE is primarily administered by WAEC for students in their third year of Senior High School in West Africa, as well as for private candidates.
